Is this the official Play Music Theory website?
No. PlayMusicTheory.top is an independent drawing-to-music playground with its own code and examples. The original play_music_theory instrument is by Tala Rae Schlossberg. Our guide links directly to the creator’s website.
How does a drawing become music?
The canvas reads from left to right across 32 time steps. Higher marks make higher notes in your selected scale; the four colors use different synthesized sounds. Several marks in the same column can play together.
Is the playground free? Do I need an account?
This independent playground is free and has no sign-up. Drawing, editing and sound generation happen in your browser. No audio samples or AI service are required.
Will my drawing still be here tomorrow?
One draft is saved in this browser when local storage is available. A new drawing can replace it. Private browsing or clearing site data can remove it, so download an editable project for a durable backup.
Can I use it on a phone?
You can draw with touch in a modern browser. Tap Play to enable audio and check your device volume. A larger screen gives you more drawing space.
Can I edit or share the examples?
